Different Languages - Same God

This morning we went to Bethany Baptist Church here in Timisoara on Romania's Pentecost Sunday. It was such a precious experience and a privilege to witness their worship service on a day where they had more special music than normal and three baptisms.

When we first arrived we met the girls from Deborah and it was truly so sweet when they ran up to Megan and many hugs were shared. One of the girls went around giving all 8 of us hugs with just a big grin on her face. We all sat in the upper level of church and the praise band began service. The worship was absolutely gorgeous. We had the praise team, the whole choir, a young girl with a solo, another girl with a violin solo, and an all men group have specials. Even though everything was in Romanian, I knew most of the songs and it was precious to hear it sung in another country. There were three baptisms near the end of the service. Those may have been some of the most genuine baptisms I have seen. After the baptisms, the two pastors prayed over the new fellow believers and it was a sweet sight. Afterwards, Megan was asked to speak a little bit to introduce our team and she talked about how wonderful it was to know we can worship the same God in different languages. That comment definitely encompassed how beautiful it is to worship with another culture. It may have been quite hot and a much longer service than we are used to in the United States (2.5 hrs), but it really was beautiful to worship there this morning. -Kaitlyn K.

Today was a wonderful day, we went to church with the girls and then we had lunch with them. I was looking forward to reuniting with all the precious girls from Deborah House. As we ate lunch, we were able to visit with the girls and introduce them to the team members that had not yet met. It was a sweet time of visiting, laughing and of course enjoying a nice lunch together. The girls were excited to take us to get ice cream after lunch, what a nice treat! Today was a great way to kick off a great week in Romania. -Kim C.

Tomorrow, we will begin Bible study on the Names of God and before we begin, we will share how important and life-giving the Bible is. And to express this in a tangible way, we will be giving them each their very own Bible!
Please pray that each girl would come to crave spending time in the Word as they learn who God is for themselves over the next 2 weeks.
We also had one team member get sick today, she is feeling better but please pray for a restful night so she is fully back to health by the morning!
The excited walk for ice cream with all 20 girls!

We spent the afternoon organizing and preparing for all the exciting things we have planned for the week!

It's Not Goodbye, Just See You Later!

Recaps from Jamie, Sydney & Molli! Our week in Romania was incredible.  I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to go back a second time and see some familiar faces - people I call friends. We arrived on Saturday, June 29th and had dinner with the week one team. We were exhausted from travel, but it was really great to hear about their experiences and have a few hours to talk and laugh together before they had to go back home. Sunday, June 30th we attended Emil's church, and again, it felt so good to be back in a familiar setting with friends from across the world. Wilson gave the sermon, with Emil translating.  The songs we sang and the prayers we prayed were all in Romanian, but we were all worshiping the same God. To me that's an image of what heaven will look like - every nation, tribe and tongue bowing before the King of Kings. We started our week at Deborah House on Monday, July 1st. The week consisted of eight sessions of Bible study and crafts, where we ta...

One Step Closer to Eternity

Recap of Week 2 from  Heidi, Wilson, & Brandy! As I reflect on my time in Romania, I cannot help but be filled with gratitude, joy, and awe of what the Lord is doing there. Our time spent with the girls was so sweet and went by way too fast! It was so special being able to walk through the names of God with them and remind them just how personal God is. He delights in the details of our lives, and the depth of love He has for us is immeasurable. The girls were able to see how their identity is rooted in Him alone. Our identity is not found in worldly success, relationships, or our mistakes. When we accept His gift of salvation, we are His children. No matter what the world throws at us, we can peacefully rest in the promise of eternity. Along with Bible study, the girls did crafts. I helped in crafts all week, and it was so fun seeing each of their personalities expressed by the way they did their craft. girls are so creative and took their time with each one to make it their ...

Forever Etched in My Heart

Recaps from Lesley, Kim & Hannah!      Just a quick recap of my week in Romania. I didn’t know what to expect coming on this trip and the emotions we would have. This week will be forever etched in my heart. Being able to love on those girls and share the love of Jesus was such a great experience for me. I also enjoyed getting to know the ladies on my team at such a more personal level. Watching the girls do crafts and just smile and hug us, warmed my heart. This will be a week I will never forget.  - Lesley Brinkmann      It is very difficult to put into words how wonderful was a week at The Deborah House. I am so thankful to God and to my family that I was able to return for a second year. I have thought about and prayed for those precious girls since I left last June. To be able to see them and hug them again was wonderful.  Our week was full of fun activities with the girls and as a team. I hope that the girls felt the love of Jesus...
