God is Our Strong Tower

This morning to kick off the week, I shared a short devotional based on Psalm 119:103, 105 & 2 Timothy 3:16-17 with all the girls & staff. The biggest emphasis was how much our team love God's Word and treasure it. And that our prayer is for each of the girls to love the Bible one day just as much because it is our Heavenly Father's words to us. Thanks to the GO Fund, we were able to give each girl their own teen Bible & they were all very excited to receive them! And guess what the highlighted verse was on the first page of the Bible... 2 Tim. 3:16-17 - Only God could plan that! - Megan M.

The girls receiving their Bibles

Last year our team project was to furnish a new Patio at DH1. Construction was delayed so we purchased the furniture but were unable to help assemble it. It was fun to see it all together this year! Another wonderful fruit from the GO Fund!

It was so fun and sweet to be at Deborah House today with all the girls! In our Bible study time the girls were eager to jump into Scripture with their new Bibles. We studied our memory verse of the week, Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.” We got to share with the girls how the Lord is our protector, our rescue, and our safety. I can’t wait to get more into our study throughout the week as we discover more about God’s character and how the names of God represent His character! Please pray that the girls will continue to learn about the Lord’s character and run to Him in times of trouble. -Hannah M.

We are using Kay Arthur's Kids Precept Study, "Lord, What is Your Name" and the theme with that is detectives -- searching for clues of who God is. So of course they needed detective apparel to get the job done!

The girls decorated Jenga blocks to represent the Strong Tower.
One girl drew the days of Creation on her blocks and this is what we studied/taught in Bible study last year!

Then we made bookmarks for their Bibles and marked the memory verse in Proverbs.

Craft time is a great time to see the different personalities of the girls and encourage them in their creative efforts!

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with Hannah (one of our incredible translators!) & Gabi (all the girls social worker & case manager). It is a testimony of the Lord's faithfulness hearing about each staff member's story and how they got to Deborah House!

It's Not Goodbye, Just See You Later!

Recaps from Jamie, Sydney & Molli! Our week in Romania was incredible.  I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to go back a second time and see some familiar faces - people I call friends. We arrived on Saturday, June 29th and had dinner with the week one team. We were exhausted from travel, but it was really great to hear about their experiences and have a few hours to talk and laugh together before they had to go back home. Sunday, June 30th we attended Emil's church, and again, it felt so good to be back in a familiar setting with friends from across the world. Wilson gave the sermon, with Emil translating.  The songs we sang and the prayers we prayed were all in Romanian, but we were all worshiping the same God. To me that's an image of what heaven will look like - every nation, tribe and tongue bowing before the King of Kings. We started our week at Deborah House on Monday, July 1st. The week consisted of eight sessions of Bible study and crafts, where we ta...

One Step Closer to Eternity

Recap of Week 2 from  Heidi, Wilson, & Brandy! As I reflect on my time in Romania, I cannot help but be filled with gratitude, joy, and awe of what the Lord is doing there. Our time spent with the girls was so sweet and went by way too fast! It was so special being able to walk through the names of God with them and remind them just how personal God is. He delights in the details of our lives, and the depth of love He has for us is immeasurable. The girls were able to see how their identity is rooted in Him alone. Our identity is not found in worldly success, relationships, or our mistakes. When we accept His gift of salvation, we are His children. No matter what the world throws at us, we can peacefully rest in the promise of eternity. Along with Bible study, the girls did crafts. I helped in crafts all week, and it was so fun seeing each of their personalities expressed by the way they did their craft. girls are so creative and took their time with each one to make it their ...

Forever Etched in My Heart

Recaps from Lesley, Kim & Hannah!      Just a quick recap of my week in Romania. I didn’t know what to expect coming on this trip and the emotions we would have. This week will be forever etched in my heart. Being able to love on those girls and share the love of Jesus was such a great experience for me. I also enjoyed getting to know the ladies on my team at such a more personal level. Watching the girls do crafts and just smile and hug us, warmed my heart. This will be a week I will never forget.  - Lesley Brinkmann      It is very difficult to put into words how wonderful was a week at The Deborah House. I am so thankful to God and to my family that I was able to return for a second year. I have thought about and prayed for those precious girls since I left last June. To be able to see them and hug them again was wonderful.  Our week was full of fun activities with the girls and as a team. I hope that the girls felt the love of Jesus...
