Hai Romania!

Tuesday, June 2

"Today our team had the honor to visit a juvenile prison and a village. The girls in the prison are led by Doru and Rodica. This couple has faithfully taught God’s Word there for over 20 years. The girls were a blessing to us as they sang prayers to God under Doru’s leadership. We joined “There’s Power in the Blood” in English while they sang in Romanian! Being in an international context among other believers has a way of encouraging the soul in a profound way. The work being done with girls who have made decisions that carry the consequence of jail time is extremely God honoring. We shared that we have come to encourage them with the only hope we know. Hope’s name is Jesus and He is ready to wipe away any mistake they’ve made just like He has for each of us. We desire to worship the Lord in song eternally beside each of them and we told them that today!

In the village, we delivered food and hygiene products to 3 families who participate in MLI's Back to School Program. The deliveries are only available if students attend school, which is an incentive for families to continue sending their children to school. The ministry provides the children and families a way to hear the Gospel and access resources that would otherwise be unavailable to them. Village life is being transformed one child at a time.

MLI continues to accomplish great things for the glory of the Lord in a variety of ministries in Romania. We’ve had the privilege to be a part of 3 this week that each address difficult life circumstances. Continue to pray for our team, as we seek to follow the leadership of the Spirit for the next few days, as we work along these existing ministries." -Brandy Johnson

One family's home was on the grounds of the former communist party's farmland. Under communism, CeauČ™escu removed many families from their land and moved them to other parts of the country to prevent families from claiming land as their own. This area we visited had several massive stables that used to house the communist regime’s horses and other farm animals, those living there had their animals taken from them for the communist party, then forced to take care of said animals. Communism is a very dark part of Romania’s history but it is beautiful to see how the ministries of MLI continue to break through these cycles of poverty to provide physical and spiritual needs to so many.

"We spent the afternoon at Deborah House and had a great third session. Relationships are already being built and strengthened with the girls. Today the girls learned about Joseph and how to trust God in the midst of any crisis they may find themselves in. We also had a great time making bracelets and painting nails! Afterwards we headed to Emil’s church for a Romanian Futball watch party! Romania played the Netherlands in the Euro championship, so you can imagine the excitement from the locals about the game. We played games, ate pizza, watched the game, and had a great time with some of the local church members. It was exciting to join in on this part of their culture and experience it for ourselves." - Anna Logan

Hai Romania!

Please pray for stamina & health for our team as we go into day 3 with the girls! There are some with sniffles and trying to keep it at that! We will begin sharing with them about El Roi, the God Who Sees, pray they come to know personally the God who sees them!

It's Not Goodbye, Just See You Later!

Recaps from Jamie, Sydney & Molli! Our week in Romania was incredible.  I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to go back a second time and see some familiar faces - people I call friends. We arrived on Saturday, June 29th and had dinner with the week one team. We were exhausted from travel, but it was really great to hear about their experiences and have a few hours to talk and laugh together before they had to go back home. Sunday, June 30th we attended Emil's church, and again, it felt so good to be back in a familiar setting with friends from across the world. Wilson gave the sermon, with Emil translating.  The songs we sang and the prayers we prayed were all in Romanian, but we were all worshiping the same God. To me that's an image of what heaven will look like - every nation, tribe and tongue bowing before the King of Kings. We started our week at Deborah House on Monday, July 1st. The week consisted of eight sessions of Bible study and crafts, where we ta...

One Step Closer to Eternity

Recap of Week 2 from  Heidi, Wilson, & Brandy! As I reflect on my time in Romania, I cannot help but be filled with gratitude, joy, and awe of what the Lord is doing there. Our time spent with the girls was so sweet and went by way too fast! It was so special being able to walk through the names of God with them and remind them just how personal God is. He delights in the details of our lives, and the depth of love He has for us is immeasurable. The girls were able to see how their identity is rooted in Him alone. Our identity is not found in worldly success, relationships, or our mistakes. When we accept His gift of salvation, we are His children. No matter what the world throws at us, we can peacefully rest in the promise of eternity. Along with Bible study, the girls did crafts. I helped in crafts all week, and it was so fun seeing each of their personalities expressed by the way they did their craft. girls are so creative and took their time with each one to make it their ...

Forever Etched in My Heart

Recaps from Lesley, Kim & Hannah!      Just a quick recap of my week in Romania. I didn’t know what to expect coming on this trip and the emotions we would have. This week will be forever etched in my heart. Being able to love on those girls and share the love of Jesus was such a great experience for me. I also enjoyed getting to know the ladies on my team at such a more personal level. Watching the girls do crafts and just smile and hug us, warmed my heart. This will be a week I will never forget.  - Lesley Brinkmann      It is very difficult to put into words how wonderful was a week at The Deborah House. I am so thankful to God and to my family that I was able to return for a second year. I have thought about and prayed for those precious girls since I left last June. To be able to see them and hug them again was wonderful.  Our week was full of fun activities with the girls and as a team. I hope that the girls felt the love of Jesus...
