God Draws Near to Us

Monday, July 1

“Group 2 from FBC Clinton is here in Romania for week 2! We started this week off with church, having one of our own preach on Sunday on how our God is at work whether we see it or not. Church fellowship included a birthday celebration to kick off the week! Today we were able to reconnect with and meet the girls at Deborah House. We will be spending our week continuing to study the names of God with the girls! We dove into depth of what a relationship with Him is as we understand His character on a personal level—not just seeing Him as El Elyon, the Most High God, but knowing He draws near to us, showing us we can trust Him with the good and the hard times! What a truth to teach to them! We had a great first day, worshiping together, dancing “church clap”, eating a wonderful meal, and having fun in Bible study, crafts, and getting to know one another! Ready for another day!” -Sydney Sisson

“What a great first day at Deborah House with team 2! Today in crafts, the girls had fun in competition with various games that involved unlocking pad locks with various mismatched keys. While the competition may have been fierce in the morning, the afternoon was filled with teamwork as the girls had some fun/creative time making bracelets that were as unique and beautiful as each young lady. We look forward to what day 2 has in store!” -Molli Sorrels

Left: Lunch with the younger girls PLUS the Cup Game/Song
Right: Teamwork to create intricate bracelets.

Left: Wilson learning Romanian while playing Bingo
Right: The girls working together to find all the keys to unlock their locks - this challenge was a hit.

Right: This brought tears to several of our eyes, as this sweet girl sprinted to hug Brandy as soon as she saw her come down the stairs-two peas in a pod!

It's Not Goodbye, Just See You Later!

Recaps from Jamie, Sydney & Molli! Our week in Romania was incredible.  I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to go back a second time and see some familiar faces - people I call friends. We arrived on Saturday, June 29th and had dinner with the week one team. We were exhausted from travel, but it was really great to hear about their experiences and have a few hours to talk and laugh together before they had to go back home. Sunday, June 30th we attended Emil's church, and again, it felt so good to be back in a familiar setting with friends from across the world. Wilson gave the sermon, with Emil translating.  The songs we sang and the prayers we prayed were all in Romanian, but we were all worshiping the same God. To me that's an image of what heaven will look like - every nation, tribe and tongue bowing before the King of Kings. We started our week at Deborah House on Monday, July 1st. The week consisted of eight sessions of Bible study and crafts, where we ta...

One Step Closer to Eternity

Recap of Week 2 from  Heidi, Wilson, & Brandy! As I reflect on my time in Romania, I cannot help but be filled with gratitude, joy, and awe of what the Lord is doing there. Our time spent with the girls was so sweet and went by way too fast! It was so special being able to walk through the names of God with them and remind them just how personal God is. He delights in the details of our lives, and the depth of love He has for us is immeasurable. The girls were able to see how their identity is rooted in Him alone. Our identity is not found in worldly success, relationships, or our mistakes. When we accept His gift of salvation, we are His children. No matter what the world throws at us, we can peacefully rest in the promise of eternity. Along with Bible study, the girls did crafts. I helped in crafts all week, and it was so fun seeing each of their personalities expressed by the way they did their craft. girls are so creative and took their time with each one to make it their ...

Forever Etched in My Heart

Recaps from Lesley, Kim & Hannah!      Just a quick recap of my week in Romania. I didn’t know what to expect coming on this trip and the emotions we would have. This week will be forever etched in my heart. Being able to love on those girls and share the love of Jesus was such a great experience for me. I also enjoyed getting to know the ladies on my team at such a more personal level. Watching the girls do crafts and just smile and hug us, warmed my heart. This will be a week I will never forget.  - Lesley Brinkmann      It is very difficult to put into words how wonderful was a week at The Deborah House. I am so thankful to God and to my family that I was able to return for a second year. I have thought about and prayed for those precious girls since I left last June. To be able to see them and hug them again was wonderful.  Our week was full of fun activities with the girls and as a team. I hope that the girls felt the love of Jesus...
