Our last day here with the girls was filled with lots of fun and laughter, as well as a few tears. We had a sweet time in Bible Study wrapping up what we learned about the Names of God and encouraging the girls to keep on studying the Bible so that they can know God’s will for their life. It’s hard to say goodbye to such a beautiful place filled with beautiful people.

Today was bittersweet. It was so hard to leave the girls after finally getting close with them. They broke my heart and brought me so much joy at the same time. We shared many hugs and goodbyes today, but I am so encouraged by the staff of MLI and confident in how the Lord is using them in the daily lives of these girls. I truly hope that I can continue to come back and see these girls year after year.

I loved everything about today…….except for leaving. We played many games, hugged many hugs, and cried many tears. After 5 days, it felt like we had really connected with all the girls, even those who had tough exteriors. Although my heart aches to stay longer, I am reminded that God doesn’t NEED us to show these tender hearts genuine love. He’s already doing that through the MLI team and His Word, but he has graciously allowed us to be apart of the process. And although my heart is particularly fond of these 19, I am also reminded there are many more little souls where we live that need a similar kind of love.

Highlight from today was standing in a circle with the girls and praying with them after our last Bible study. We prayed the names of God that we’ve learned all week. My prayer is that as they learned and continue to learn about who God is, they will remember that their identity is found in Him alone through Jesus

It was a very bitter sweet goodbye today as we are ready to be united with our families but hate leaving our Romanian girls. What a week getting to know the young ladies at Deborah House! We will forever be united and carry them in our hearts and prayers until we get to see their faces in person and embrace them again!!

Our ways are not the Lord’s ways and His are always higher! We prayed for the Spirit to move in the hearts of children through our translators this week. He did that and so much more! Our translators gave testimony today of how He has transformed their hearts by the hearing of His Word as they translated our Bible studies. They’ve become one of us and we’re so encouraged by them. I’d love to bring then home with me! Even though I can’t, I praise the Lord that we are guaranteed to spend eternity together. What a gift!

Today I kept thinking of a quote from Winnie the Pooh… “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” It was definitely hard having to leave our friends today, but I am so thankful for the privilege of getting to know them all. The Lord is going to use them in big ways for His Kingdom, and I cannot wait to see it all unfold!

Today was such a bittersweet day of saying goodbye to these precious girls. What a privilege to be able to be here, to share the love and truths of God and his character, and to continue to pray for them when we leave. I am forever changed by these girls and by the women and men that care for them in so many different capacities. -Sydney Sisson
I don't like goodbyes, I prefer to say see you later! For 16 years, the ministry and people of MLI have been part of my life. Every time I have the privilege to return and reunite with friends, staff members, and the girls, I can't stop praising the Lord! What a gift! This trip was no different! Thank you Jesus for allowing me to be a small part of these beautiful girls stories. Many tears were shed but it just means the time together meant so much!

Anna & Wilson arrived home yesterday. The rest of us are in route home. Please pray for safe travels and wisdom in how to process all that we witnessed the past few weeks. The post mission trip slump is a real thing! Stay tuned for recaps from everyone's perspectives soon!
