The God Who Sees Us

Wednesday, July 3

"Today, we looked at the story of Paul and Silas. At one of their darkest hours -- midnight, shackled in prison, they chose to sing and praise God. And then…..God performed a miracle! I’m so thankful for all the stories in Scripture that give us hope and the courage to step out and do hard things in life. These girls know about the hard things in life. These girls are more than courageous. It’s a beautiful sight to watch them interact with each other, taking care of and loving each other. I can feel the Lord’s presence among them. Please continue to pray that they will grow in their relationship with the Lord and with each other." -Aimee Hudson

"Today was a great day filled with lots of fun at Deborah House! The name of God we studied today was El Roi, the God Who Sees. It is so comforting to know that we serve a personal God who truly sees us. Not only does He know all the details about us, but He desires a relationship with us. In crafts, we made prayer boxes. Each girl was able to decorate their own, and it was fun seeing their personalities in the ways they decorated their boxes. The weather was beautiful today, so we played a bunch of games outside in our free time. It has been very sweet getting to know the girls! Looking forward to another great day tomorrow!" -Heidi Ball

One of the highlights of the day is the tight embraces from each girl when we arrive every morning!
The lost suitcase was finally found 5 days later!
Hannah - one of our incredible translators! And the granddaughter of Eugene Groza - the man who began MLI!
Watercolor Contrast Project - Even in the dark, the light shines brighter.

Enjoying the cool weather with chalk and volleyball!
Practicing Romanian/English in the Sun!

We spent the evening in the City Center with a staff member and his 3 beautiful girls and then happened upon a cultural festival and experienced traditional Romanian costume, singing and dance!

Thursday we are taking the girls back to the water park - please pray for safety & that they would know the joy of the Lord! Pray that what they learn from our time together would not just be head knowledge but heart knowledge!

It's Not Goodbye, Just See You Later!

Recaps from Jamie, Sydney & Molli! Our week in Romania was incredible.  I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to go back a second time and see some familiar faces - people I call friends. We arrived on Saturday, June 29th and had dinner with the week one team. We were exhausted from travel, but it was really great to hear about their experiences and have a few hours to talk and laugh together before they had to go back home. Sunday, June 30th we attended Emil's church, and again, it felt so good to be back in a familiar setting with friends from across the world. Wilson gave the sermon, with Emil translating.  The songs we sang and the prayers we prayed were all in Romanian, but we were all worshiping the same God. To me that's an image of what heaven will look like - every nation, tribe and tongue bowing before the King of Kings. We started our week at Deborah House on Monday, July 1st. The week consisted of eight sessions of Bible study and crafts, where we ta...

One Step Closer to Eternity

Recap of Week 2 from  Heidi, Wilson, & Brandy! As I reflect on my time in Romania, I cannot help but be filled with gratitude, joy, and awe of what the Lord is doing there. Our time spent with the girls was so sweet and went by way too fast! It was so special being able to walk through the names of God with them and remind them just how personal God is. He delights in the details of our lives, and the depth of love He has for us is immeasurable. The girls were able to see how their identity is rooted in Him alone. Our identity is not found in worldly success, relationships, or our mistakes. When we accept His gift of salvation, we are His children. No matter what the world throws at us, we can peacefully rest in the promise of eternity. Along with Bible study, the girls did crafts. I helped in crafts all week, and it was so fun seeing each of their personalities expressed by the way they did their craft. girls are so creative and took their time with each one to make it their ...

Forever Etched in My Heart

Recaps from Lesley, Kim & Hannah!      Just a quick recap of my week in Romania. I didn’t know what to expect coming on this trip and the emotions we would have. This week will be forever etched in my heart. Being able to love on those girls and share the love of Jesus was such a great experience for me. I also enjoyed getting to know the ladies on my team at such a more personal level. Watching the girls do crafts and just smile and hug us, warmed my heart. This will be a week I will never forget.  - Lesley Brinkmann      It is very difficult to put into words how wonderful was a week at The Deborah House. I am so thankful to God and to my family that I was able to return for a second year. I have thought about and prayed for those precious girls since I left last June. To be able to see them and hug them again was wonderful.  Our week was full of fun activities with the girls and as a team. I hope that the girls felt the love of Jesus...
