Same Time Next Year?!

Final Recaps from Aimee, Anna & Megan! Two weeks in Romania serving with Missio Link International was life changing. I’m so incredibly thankful for the work this ministry does and for the opportunity to enter into their daily life routine. Our sole purpose of going was to show and teach these beautiful girls about who God is and equip them with the tools they will need to grow in their relationship with Him throughout their life. As we watched their eyes light up upon receiving their very own Bible, we saw that they were hungry for the Word of God. Each day in Bible Study they were engaged in learning how to look up Scripture and use the actual words of the Bible to shed light on some hard life questions. As we were there teaching, I was overwhelmed at how the Lord could use inadequate me to teach His Word. My biggest take away from this trip is the comforting reality and truth that God desires to use any of us humans to love on our fellow humans…all of us spectacularly made in Hi...

It's Not Goodbye, Just See You Later!

Recaps from Jamie, Sydney & Molli! Our week in Romania was incredible.  I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to go back a second time and see some familiar faces - people I call friends. We arrived on Saturday, June 29th and had dinner with the week one team. We were exhausted from travel, but it was really great to hear about their experiences and have a few hours to talk and laugh together before they had to go back home. Sunday, June 30th we attended Emil's church, and again, it felt so good to be back in a familiar setting with friends from across the world. Wilson gave the sermon, with Emil translating.  The songs we sang and the prayers we prayed were all in Romanian, but we were all worshiping the same God. To me that's an image of what heaven will look like - every nation, tribe and tongue bowing before the King of Kings. We started our week at Deborah House on Monday, July 1st. The week consisted of eight sessions of Bible study and crafts, where we ta...

One Step Closer to Eternity

Recap of Week 2 from  Heidi, Wilson, & Brandy! As I reflect on my time in Romania, I cannot help but be filled with gratitude, joy, and awe of what the Lord is doing there. Our time spent with the girls was so sweet and went by way too fast! It was so special being able to walk through the names of God with them and remind them just how personal God is. He delights in the details of our lives, and the depth of love He has for us is immeasurable. The girls were able to see how their identity is rooted in Him alone. Our identity is not found in worldly success, relationships, or our mistakes. When we accept His gift of salvation, we are His children. No matter what the world throws at us, we can peacefully rest in the promise of eternity. Along with Bible study, the girls did crafts. I helped in crafts all week, and it was so fun seeing each of their personalities expressed by the way they did their craft. girls are so creative and took their time with each one to make it their ...

Forever Etched in My Heart

Recaps from Lesley, Kim & Hannah!      Just a quick recap of my week in Romania. I didn’t know what to expect coming on this trip and the emotions we would have. This week will be forever etched in my heart. Being able to love on those girls and share the love of Jesus was such a great experience for me. I also enjoyed getting to know the ladies on my team at such a more personal level. Watching the girls do crafts and just smile and hug us, warmed my heart. This will be a week I will never forget.  - Lesley Brinkmann      It is very difficult to put into words how wonderful was a week at The Deborah House. I am so thankful to God and to my family that I was able to return for a second year. I have thought about and prayed for those precious girls since I left last June. To be able to see them and hug them again was wonderful.  Our week was full of fun activities with the girls and as a team. I hope that the girls felt the love of Jesus...

HE Provides Where HE Guides

Trip Recap from Jenny, Kaitlyn, & Sarah Beth!      We had a wonderful week with the girls.  Our early  emphasis was on the need to know who God is and his character in order to build a relationship with him.  To do so we focused on learning and defining the names of God.  God as creator and Almighty specifically.  It was so fun reminding them they are God’s creation, made in his image and thus beautiful, worthy and created for a specific purpose. We did lip mask and facials complete with mood lighting and spa music to demonstrate caring for and cherishing themselves i.e. God’s creation. Seeing the girls begin to understand their worth through God's eyes and getting to pamper and love on them individually was a wonderful experience!      We ended our week discussing our purpose which is to reflect the character of God specifically love, forgiveness, patience and kindness. Most importantly we wrapped up th...

Team 2's Final Day with the Girls

Friday, July 5th Our last day here with the girls was filled with lots of fun and laughter, as well as a few tears. We had a sweet time in Bible Study wrapping up what we learned about the Names of God and encouraging the girls to keep on studying the Bible so that they can know God’s will for their life. It’s hard to say goodbye to such a beautiful place filled with beautiful people.  - Aimee Hudson Today was bittersweet. It was so hard to leave the girls after finally getting close with them. They broke my heart and brought me so much joy at the same time. We shared many hugs and goodbyes today, but I am so encouraged by the staff of MLI and confident in how the Lord is using them in the daily lives of these girls. I truly hope that I can continue to come back and see these girls year after year.  - Anna Logan  I loved everything about today…….except for leaving. We played many games, hugged many hugs, and cried many tears. After 5 days, it felt like we had really...
